TikTok introduced the Beta version of its Creativity Program in late February 2023, presenting a fresh approach to financially rewarding creators for providing valuable content to its platform.
Creators in the U.S., U.K., France, and Germany will move to the Creativity Program from the existing Creator Fund.
This program seeks to address the dissatisfaction expressed by some creators regarding the pennies they were getting paid from the TikTok Creator Fund.
TikTok has made bold claims, asserting that through the Creativity Program, creators have the potential to earn up to 20 times more than what they were making through the previous fund.
While it may be too soon to draw conclusions, the prospect of such significant financial improvement is undoubtedly enticing for many content creators. This could prove to be a lucrative opportunity for many creators looking to turn this side gig into a full-time job.
What's the Difference Between TikTok's Creativity Program and Creator Fund?

What Are the TikTok Creativity Program Requirements?
- At least 18 years old (or 19 in South Korea).
- Have a minimum of 10,000 followers.
- Accumulate at least 100,000 real video views in the last 30 days.
- Maintain a personal account in good standing, business accounts are not accepted.
- Post original content.
- Post videos that are at least one minute long.
- Follow TikTok's Community Guidelines.
- Be located in a region where the TikTok Creativity Program Beta is available.

How to Join The TikTok Creativity Program?
If you are already a member of the TikTok Creator Fund, transitioning to the Creativity Program is a viable option. Making the switch is straightforward, just follow these steps:
- Open the TikTok app and tap on Profile.
- Navigate to the Menu button and select Settings.
- Choose Creator Tools from the options.
- Click on Creator Fund and access the Dashboard.
- Tap on Switch to transition to the Creativity Program.
For creators who were not part of the initial TikTok Creator Fund and wish to directly apply for the new Creativity Program, the process is equally simple. Follow these steps:
- Tap on Profile at the bottom of your TikTok feed.
- Access the Menu button and select Settings.
- Opt for Creator Tools from the available options.
- Tap on Creativity Program to commence the application process.
After applying, TikTok will get back to you regarding the outcome of your application within three days.
How Does the TikTok Creativity Program Work and How Much Money You Can Make?
While the payment system details remain unclear, statements from a network spokesperson suggest creators with videos garnering qualified views will receive higher remuneration.
The Creativity Program Beta aims to boost creators' revenue potential, yet specifics about its operation and payouts are limited. TikTok mentions that the beta offers the potential to earn up to 20 times more than the Creator Fund. That means that creators could earn between $4 and $8 for every 1,000 views, which is a big improvement.
Notably, a creator couple, Devin and Hunter Cordle, saw substantial earnings, making $24,000 in June and over $87,000 in July. This is a great jump from what numbers we have seen with the TikTok Creator Fund.
This could mean creators can effectively earn a living wage from TikTok alone. However, there are some drawbacks, including the requirement for longer videos, limitations on using copyrighted music, and eligibility criteria that might be seen as high for newer creators.
While the program shows promise, its actual impact remains to be seen as more creators engage with it. But one thing is for certain, with many platforms offering their own funds, you don’t have to choose one over the other.
